METHOD – SETTING - PROCEDURES

As a specialist for psychiatry (and neurology) I usually combine verbal (analytic conversation) and non-verbal (psychotropics) treatment strategies – according to the diagnosis. Depending on the emphasis, there will either be applied more verbal or non-verbal intervention.

On the one hand, the human psyche is to be seen as an “organ” with different parts:We have a genetic (“predisposition”), an organic (“mood hormone” or chemical second messengers like serotonin), a psychodynamic (“to be affected by sth.”, childhood or later traumatic experience) and a natural (private, familial, social or labor situation) portion.

On the other hand, our psyche is a “mental element” and therefore often cryptic, even mysterious… with many question marks; and that exactly is the challenge for every therapist.

One of the most important factors for the success of a therapy of a psychological strain is the willingness of the patient for a dialog with his/her therapist, de facto to keep the first appointment.
